
Complete Service...
At AM Computers, we don't only service our own machines our store is equipped with a full computer service and repair shop. Even though some proprietary parts from some of the big brand computers may be hard to find, we'll work hard to find your part or find a solution that works for you. Whether you're having hardware failure, power issues, or just need a spyware and viruses cleaned up bring your computer in ... whether its one of ours or not.
How it works:
When you bring a computer in for service it is worked on in the order it is received. So your machine could hit the bench anywhere from immediately to the next day. When your machine hits the bench one of our trained technicians will find the problem(s) and fix it as thoroughly and as quickly as possible and get your machine back where it belongs: in your hands.
Warranty Service Computers:
If the Computer is still within its warranty you will not pay for any failed hardware or the labor that directly relates to the troubleshooting and/or replacement of said hardware for 2 Years. The only charges applicable to a warranty service customer are for replacement of non-warranty parts and upgrading parts. If we no longer carry a part in store that your AM Computers Computer needs we may suggest an upgrade or we can order the part much of the time. Ordering parts can take as long as 2 weeks. It all depends on the rarity and age of the part.
Other Computers:
As stated above, we service all computers. From the big brand machines to the custom built. We charge a hourly rate for service. Plus any part cost or data backup you may need or ask for. We carry most standard modern hardware in store but we can order even the most obscure proprietary parts. So if you've got a machine that requires a special part, chances are we can find it and order it. A technician may suggest alternatives to special ordering parts in the interest of getting your computer back to you as soon as possible. Special order parts over $50 require payment up front. Some parts may take longer than others to order and ship to us so there's no guarantee on how long it will take to get any special order any part. You can specify up front how long you want your machine worked on when you bring it in, as well as any other special.
Data Backup/Recovery:
We find that much of the time people don't realize everything that they need backed up, or where it is on the hard drive so we charge a fee $55/hr bench fee for Non-Warranty Systems for a complete data backup of your computer's file system. When a AM Computers Technician performs a data backup they are held to a strict standard. We back up the entire contents of the drive to a folder called "Old Data" under your primary hard drive (usually labeled C:\). Most of the time you will still have to reinstall any software that you had on a machine even after a backup. All the program files will exist within the "Old Data" folder but many programs require certain registry entries and startup services that are not possible to back up. You can specify if you need your Internet connection and email set up again after a data backup. If you need us to install your software again for you, you will need to supply the installation discs and labor bench time will be charged for the duration of the installations. With certain hardware issues such as hard drive failure ... a data backup/recovery can become more difficult or time consuming and in some cases impossible. Data Recovery is charged the $55/hour labor charged for non-warranty systems. Under no circumstances is a data recovery guaranteed to be complete successfully.
